Peter Pan and Why I'll Never Grow Up

Have you ever heard the question, 'So what do you want to be when you grow up?' Of course you have. Unfortunately, I will never have a good answer to this question. Simply because I don't plan on ever growing up. What most people don't know is that Peter Pan eventually did grow up. Robin Williams plays the grown up Peter who had forgotten all about his childhood with the lost boys in the 1991 movie 'Hook'. It's all about how he must remember his childhood and, in essence, become that same boy in order to save his children.
Children see the adult world as fascinating and exciting, but quickly become disappointed when they realize it's not what it seems to be. Most end up having their childlike curiousity drained and stuck in a job they hate by the time they've 'grown up'. I'm not afraid to admit that I still get excited when something comes in bubble wrap in the mail and I have to sit down and pop them all before I use whatever it was that came. For small kids, going to the grocery store becomes an adventure because it's something new. How many of us get that excited when we try something new? Or instead do you grumble because you like your same old routine? I hope I'll never become too 'grown up' to wonder what's over the next hill or just around the next bend.
